In
the last couple of days at the India Adda on the sidelines of the World
Economic Forum 2012 in Davos, Switzerland has been nothing short of
“Splendid”. We had the most
eminent and influential business barons and strategists visiting the India
Adda here at Davos.
When
we asked Mr.
Baron Paul Buysse, Chairman Bekaert & Immobel about what he thinks about
Brand India, his answer was “India is the FUTURE”. Sir Martin Sorrell, CEO, WPP said that India’s talent has caught
the World’s attention. Mr. Rick Goings,
Chairman, Tupperware said that when he hears the word India, he sees
people, expressions and emotions. He spoke very highly of the Indian talent and
said that India has got a deadly combination and that is of the “Head and the
Heart”.
It
was exhilarating to see some of the best Global and Indian thinkers talk about
India as the future and terming the country as a land of opportunities. What
became very apparent from the opinions shared by Global leaders is that India
is believed to have a competitive edge that is unparalleled to none.
In
the midst of all the action and engaging conversations at the India Adda at
Davos 2012, the Brand India dynamism got ever more emphasized by the visit of Mr. David Cameron, Prime Minister of the UK, to the India Adda at Davos. As the
Prime Minister expressed interest to know the Brand India theme at Davos this
year, the conversation focused on India Ingenious – Ideas for Change.
He was
both delighted and surprised at the $ 35 pricing of the tablet. I explained to
him the how Aakash had been conceptualized by the Government of India to
utilise technology for educating the vast numbers of rural populace. Quite
impressed, the Prime Minister acknowledged the India initiative.
We
interacted with some of the best minds in the industry over the last couple of
days and we have a lot of stories to tell about ‘Brand India’.
Watch this space for more.
