David Cameron, Prime Minister of the UK, at the India Adda
In the midst of all the action and engaging conversations at the India Adda at Davos 2012, the Brand India dynamism got ever more emphasised by the visit of David Cameron, Prime Minister of the UK, to the India Adda at Davos. As the Prime Minister expressed interest to know the Brand India theme at Davos this year, the conversation focussed on India Ingenious – Ideas for Change. He was both delighted and surprised at the $ 35 pricing of the tablet. I explained to him the how Aakash had been conceptualised by the Government of India to utilise technology for educating the vast numbers of rural populace. Quite impressed, the Prime Minister acknowledged the India initiative.

Brand India continues to resonate at Davos.

Internet indeed revolutionized the Globe in 90s but still many remained unconnected with web. I think the initiative by the Govt. will solve the problem which many Indian are facing and will give them the key to access plethora of information on the go !

I believe in INDIA story where services/goods with essential value at best price works well and Akash tablet @ $35 is reflection of this culture which's catching up fast in rest of the Globe !

It's high time we got credit for our innovations. We have always done good work in the field of IT and technology, but somehow there was never something concrete that pointed to India being the force behind product; The Aakash is that one thing

There are a number of things that need to be put right. Agreed, we are doing good but one of the concerns that was raised at the WEF in regards to India's growth was that every section of the society needs to benefit from it, not just a few. The benefits of the growth need to percolate to every strata and we need direction in that sense. IBEF is indeed making a lot of effort, however, a parallel campaign to deal with issues on a real time basis is what we need.

India is where the future is, the sooner understood the better. For any global conglomerate to not realise and act around what the subcontinent has to offer can be a shot in the foot. one after the other, it is India that most mutlinationals are chosing to position themselves at for Asia. Great toknow India is shining again.
